Holy Communion

Each Sunday, we celebrate the Sacrament of Holy Communion, also called the Lord's Support. We believe Jesus makes a wonderful promise to us in this meal. He promises that he is here with his Body and Blood, “given and shed for you the forgiveness of sins;” in, with and under the bread and wine. (Matthew 26:26-28; Mark 14:22-24; Luke 22:19-20; Corinthians 11:23-26).  This is a mystery we receive by faith.  Many of us have found it helpful to reflect on these questions as we prepare our hearts to receive this gift.

As a baptized Christian, do I believe I am a sinner in need of forgiveness?

Do I believe my heavenly Father sent his Son, Jesus, to die on the cross and rise again?

Do I trust Jesus’ promise “this is my body . . . this is my blood . . . given and shed for you for the forgiveness of sins”?

Do I seek strength from Jesus to pattern my life more and more after him and his calling to me?

As the Holy  Spirit guides you to answer “yes” to all these questions, Jesus is inviting you to receive this precious give.  Young children and those who prefer to receive a Blessing are welcome to come forward.
